Mauli Janma — the appearance day of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj at Apegaon on Shravan Krishna Ashtami (1275 CE). The same tithi as Krishna Janmashtami — Mauli is held to be a direct amsha of Krishna born to lead the kali-yuga jiva back to Vitthal. Apegaon, Alandi, and every Vithoba mandir holds Haripath, Dnyaneshwari-parayan, and abhanga-kirtan through the day and night.

Mantra
ज्ञानदेव माउली ज्ञानराज माउली तुकाराम
Jnanadeva Mauli Jnanaraja Mauli Tukarama
Mauli (mother) Dnyaneshwar, King-Mauli, with Tukaram — the Warkari pranam to the saint-poet who is mother to all bhaktas.
How to recite
Recite the Pasaydana (the closing prayer of the Dnyaneshwari) at sunrise. Sing the Haripath of Mauli (28 abhangas) continuously through the day. Read at least one chapter (one adhyaya) of the Dnyaneshwari aloud. Visit Apegaon (Mauli's birthplace, on the Godavari near Paithan) or Alandi if possible.
Benefits
Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj appeared on this day (Shravan Krishna Ashtami, 1275 CE — the same tithi as Lord Krishna's appearance) at Apegaon to Vitthalpant and Rukminibai. Mauli composed the Dnyaneshwari at age 16 — the first vernacular commentary on the Bhagavad Gita ever written, and the foundational text of the Warkari path. His Jayanti grace removes the karmic root of birth-and-death.
✦ Special Note
Apegaon (Mauli's birthplace) and Alandi (his Sanjeevan Samadhi) become the twin centres of pilgrimage on this day. Reading the Pasaydana on Mauli Janma is held to confer his direct grace. Per the Marathi Drik Panchang (Amanta system) — Shravan Krishna Ashtami.
