Krishna Janmashtami — Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami — observed by Ramanandis with a midnight-fast culminating in bal-Krishna abhishekam. The Ram darbar at every Ramanandi mandir adds a small bal-Krishna murti for the day, and the maha-mantra (Hare Krishna · Hare Ram) is sung through the night.

Mantra
हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे · हरे राम हरे राम राम राम हरे हरे
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare · Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare
The maha-mantra — invoking both Krishna and Ram together as the complete form of God. The Ramanandis recite both halves with equal emphasis.
How to recite
Fast through the day from sunrise. At midnight (Krishna's appearance muhurta — Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami nishita-kaal), perform abhishekam of the bal-Krishna murti placed beside the Ram darbar with panchamrit. Offer makhan-mishri and dhaniya panjiri as midnight bhog. Sing the maha-mantra and Krishna-leela bhajans. Break the fast at midnight after the abhishekam.
Benefits
While Janmashtami is most associated with the Krishna sampradayas (ISKCON, Pushti Marg, Vrindavan), the Ramanandis observe it as the day Vishnu — who is also Sri Ram — appeared in his Krishna form to complete the Vaishnava avatara cycle. The Ramanandi tradition holds that worshipping Krishna without first establishing devotion to Ram is incomplete; both are the same Bhagavan.
✦ Special Note
The Ramanandi observance is gentler than the Krishna-sampradaya version — no jhanki processions or dahi-handi competitions, but a quiet midnight abhishekam with the bal-Krishna placed at Sri Ram's feet, signifying that all of Vishnu's avataras culminate in Sri Ram's eternal Saket-leela. Dates per the standard Vikram Samvat Panchang (Purnimanta system — month boundary at Purnima), Ayodhya/Varanasi convention; same underlying calendar as Hindu general, Purnimanta month naming.
