Posh Dasami — Pausha Krishna Dasami — the Janma Kalyanak (birth anniversary) of Lord Parshvanath, the 23rd Tirthankara, born in Varanasi to King Ashvasena and Queen Vamadevi. The principal observance is the 3-day Atham (Upvas) covering Pausha Krishna 9, 10, and 11. Especially significant at Shankheshwar, Shikharji (Sammet Shikhar), and all major Parshvanath tirths.

✦ Special Note

The 3-day Atham observance is the highlight; many devotees take only boiled water for 3 days. Verified Aug 2026 against Shvetambara tithi calendars: Pausha (Purnimanta) / Magshar Vad (Gujarati) Krishna Dashami prevails at sunrise on 2026-01-13 and 2027-02-01, consistent with the Meru Trayodashi anchors (Jan 16, 2026 / Feb 4, 2027). Digambara tradition observes on Pausha Krishna Ekadashi instead; confirm with your local sangh's panchang.
