What distinguishes Kartik Purnima?
Kartik Purnima is associated with both Vishnu and Shiva in the catalog and has a distinctive seasonal setting of lamps, pilgrimage and worship. Its Shiva-related Tripurari associations are not the same as the Satyanarayan narrative used for an ordinary monthly full moon. Regional celebrations, including those near river and temple sites, may add their own customs. Reading the named observance helps keep those traditions visible while choosing an appropriate fasting discipline and permitted meal.

Meal ideas for this occurrence
The catalog's permitted-meal idea for Kartik Purnima is: Sweet potato and banana leaf meal — offered first to the deity, then eaten with gratitude
November: A cooler-season serving may be a warm preparation from the permitted menu, made in a modest quantity. Food offered in worship should still follow ordinary safe preparation and storage practices.
