✦ Special Note

Important: Jain Shravana fasting is different from Hindu Shravana fasting. Jains avoid root vegetables year-round — potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, beetroot, radish are never consumed, not just on fast days. During monsoon, Jains take extra care to avoid green leafy vegetables as they may harbour more micro-organisms at this time of year. All water must be boiled and cooled to room temperature. No eating after sunset on any day. Jain fasting rules vary by sect and family tradition — always follow your family's practice. Dates per the Amanta Shravana month boundaries of Drik Panchang's Jain calendar (drikpanchang.com) — the Gujarati Amanta frame in which Paryushana falls.
