Skanda Sashti is a 6-day fast in Karthik month dedicated to Lord Murugan (Karthikeya/Skanda), the son of Shiva. The vrat commemorates Murugan's victory over the demon Surapadman. Especially celebrated at Murugan temples across Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Karnataka, and Kerala with massive processions. The Kanda Shasti Kavasam is chanted throughout.

Mantra
ஓம் சரவணபவ
Om Saravanabhava
Om Saravanabhava — I bow to Lord Murugan, born in the sacred lake of reeds, destroyer of evil
✦ Special Note
Each of the 6 days has significance: devotees observe increasing austerity culminating on the Sashti day (the 6th day) with either nirjala or strict fruit-only fast. The Kavadi (a decorated arch carried on the shoulders) is a special offering at Murugan temples. The Kanda Shasti Kavasam (Tamil devotional prayer) is recited daily. Major celebrations at Tiruchendur, Palani, Thiruttani, and Skanda Vale temples. Dates per Drik Panchang (drikpanchang.com, Chennai Kanda Sashti / Soorasamharam reckoning), cross-checked against astronomical tithi computation.
