How to recite

Jyeshtha Shukla Ashtami is the great mela at Mata Kheer Bhawani temple, Tulamulla (Ganderbal, Kashmir). Devotees offer kheer (sweet milk-rice) to the sacred spring (naag), whose colour is said to shift in advance to forewarn the community of major events. One of the largest annual gatherings of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.

Benefits

Kheer Bhawani is the kuldevi of Kashmiri Pandits; the spring's colour is believed to forecast the year ahead. Pilgrimage and kheer offering invoke Her protection — for devotees in Kashmir and for the exile community across India and the world.
