Lakshmi Puja on Sharad Purnima — known in Bengali Shakta tradition as Kojagari Lakshmi Puja. Falls on Asvina Shukla Purnima, exactly five days after Vijayadashami. Bengal's main Lakshmi worship of the year (the Diwali Lakshmi Puja is comparatively smaller). Kheer is offered to Lakshmi at moonrise and kept under the moon through the night, then consumed as amrit-prasad.

Mantra

ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं श्रीं कमले कमलालये प्रसीद प्रसीद श्रीं ह्रीं श्रीं ॐ महालक्ष्म्यै नमः।

Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Kamale Kamalalaye Praseeda Praseeda Shreem Hreem Shreem Om Mahalakshmyai Namah

Om, salutations to the Great Lakshmi who dwells in the lotus — be pleased, be pleased, and bestow your grace. The bija mantra of Sri Lakshmi.

How to recite

On Sharad Purnima, prepare the Lakshmi altar with alpana (rice-flour rangoli), conch shell, lotus, and Lakshmi-Narayan murti. At moonrise, offer kheer that has been kept under the moon for the Kojagari ritual — the moon's amrit is held to descend into the kheer. Recite the Sri Suktam, Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanama, and Kanakdhara Stotram.

Benefits

Kojagari Purnima — Maa Lakshmi visits each home asking 'Ko jagarti?' (Who is awake?) and grants prosperity to those who keep vigil through the night. Bengal celebrates this as the most important Lakshmi Puja of the year (rather than Diwali night). The kheer kept under the moon is held to be empowered with amrit.

✦ Special Note

In Bengali tradition, Lakshmi visits the cleanest home — alpana on doorsteps and clean homes attract her grace. Vigil through the night is part of the vrat — those who fall asleep miss her visit. Dates per the Gupta Press Panjika (guptapresspanjika.org — the standard Bengali almanac since 1869), following its Amanta (Bengali) lunar convention with months ending on Amavasya (new moon), as used for Kali worship and dark-fortnight rituals; cross-checked against astronomical tithi computation.
