Niladri Bije — the final day of Ratha Yatra. Lord Jagannath returns to the inner Ratnavedi sanctum, where Mahalakshmi blocks His entry until appeased with rasagola. Now also celebrated as Rasagola Dibasa — Odisha's official rasagola day.

Salutations to Sri Jagannath and Mahalakshmi — united again in the Ratnavedi.
How to recite
On Asadha Shukla Trayodashi the deities re-enter the main temple. Mahalakshmi has barred the door of the sanctum in protest at being left behind during Ratha Yatra; Jagannath pleads, and finally bribes Her with a basket of rasagolas to gain entry. Devotees offer rasagola at home (Rasagola Dibasa is now an official Odisha state festival on this day) and chant the reunion lila.
Benefits
Niladri Bije completes the Ratha Yatra cycle and celebrates the eternal reconciliation of Vishnu and Lakshmi. The rasagola offering teaches that even the Lord wins back His consort with the gentlest of sweets — not arguments.
✦ Special Note
Per Puri temple panchang. Asadha Shukla Trayodashi — 2026: July 27. 2027: July 17. The Odisha government officially observes Rasagola Dibasa today; Bengali tradition disputes the rasagola's origin, but the Niladri Bije lila is its earliest documented appearance.
