Srila Prabhupada Disappearance Day — Kartika Shukla Caturthi — the day His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada departed from this world at Sri Krishna-Balaram Mandir in Vrindavan on November 14, 1977 (during the holy month of Damodara). The most solemn day of the ISKCON year — observed worldwide with all-day kirtan, abhishekam of Srila Prabhupada's murti, reading of his Vyasa Puja homages, and showing of films from his life.

How to recite
Spend the day in continuous remembrance of Srila Prabhupada — read his books (Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Sri Caitanya-caritamrita), watch his lectures, hear his bhajans (the Srila Prabhupada audio archive). Perform guru-puja with extra flowers. Chant extra rounds. Take Srila Prabhupada's mahaprasadam (offered first to his murti, then to his vyasasana).
Benefits
Srila Prabhupada departed from this world at Sri Krishna-Balaram Mandir in Vrindavan on November 14, 1977 — Kartika Shukla Caturthi, during the holy month of Damodara. His parting instruction: 'Books are the basis. Preaching is the essence. Utility is the principle. Purity is the force.' Every disciple's daily sadhana is rooted in his eternal presence in his books and his ISKCON mission.
✦ Special Note
Per the Mayapur Vaishnava Calendar. Although the disappearance day is sorrowful, Srila Prabhupada said he would always be present in his books and in the company of devotees who follow his instructions. The vani-seva (service to his teachings) is more important than the vapuh-seva (service to his physical presence). Increase your reading and book distribution today.
