Srila Prabhupada Pranama
I offer my respectful obeisances to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada — who is very dear to Lord Krishna on this earth, having taken shelter at His lotus feet
How to recite
On Sri Vyasa Puja day every disciple offers a written homage to Srila Prabhupada (read aloud at temples worldwide), performs guru-puja with flowers and lamp, sings the Sri Guru Pranama and Sri Guru Astakam, and reads from Srila Prabhupada's books. Take Srila Prabhupada's prasadam — particularly his favourite preparations.
Benefits
Sri Vyasa Puja (Bhadra Krishna Trayodashi — the day after Janmashtami) is Srila Prabhupada's appearance day. The 'Vyasa Puja' name reflects that the spiritual master is honoured as the representative of Sri Vyasadeva — the original compiler of the Vedic literature. Srila Prabhupada is the empowered Founder-Acharya who established ISKCON in 1966 and brought Krishna consciousness to every continent.
✦ Special Note
Per the Mayapur Vaishnava Calendar. The Vyasa Puja Tithi falls the day after Janmashtami (Krishna's appearance day). Srila Prabhupada often said this was Krishna's mercy — that He arranged for His acharya to appear right after His own appearance day, so that disciples honouring the guru would also remember Krishna. The annual Vyasa Puja book of homages (printed in dozens of languages every year) is the most cherished publication of ISKCON.
