Deepawali — the festival of lights — falls on Kartik Amavasya, the darkest night of the year, which the light of a thousand diyas and the grace of Goddess Lakshmi transforms into the most luminous. Lakshmi Puja is performed at night with lighted lamps, rangoli, flowers, and sweet offerings

ॐ श्रीं महालक्ष्म्यै नमः

Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namaha — I bow to Mahalakshmi, the goddess of light, wealth, and all auspicious things

✦ Special Note

Clean and decorate your entire home before sunset — Lakshmi enters only clean, welcoming homes. Keep the main entrance lit and open. Light diyas in every room, especially near the tulsi plant and the threshold. The puja should ideally happen in the pradosh (post-sunset) hour for maximum blessings.

A full mithai (sweet) spread with kaju katli, besan ladoo, and kheer — shared with family and neighbours as prasad after the Lakshmi puja
