Krishna Janmashtami at Puri — Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami. Identified with the appearance day of Lord Jagannath Himself in the Puri tradition, with chhappan-bhog mahaprasad and midnight Krishna-abhisheka.

How to recite
Observe phalahari fast through the day. Special Krishna abhisheka and bhog is performed at the Jagannath temple — Krishna is identified with Jagannath Himself in Puri tradition. At midnight (Krishna's birth muhurta), break the fast with panjiri, kheer and makhan-mishri. The next morning is celebrated as Nandotsava — birth-celebration in Nanda's house with butter-thrown joy.
Benefits
In Puri tradition Lord Jagannath is fundamentally identified with Krishna. Janmashtami at Puri features unique Odia-style abhisheka, mahaprasad bhog of 56 chappan-bhog (chhappan bhog), and special Bhagavata-paath in Odia.
