Salutations to Sri Krishna, the joy of Nanda's home.
How to recite
Celebrate Krishna's birth with Nanda Baba — break the previous day's fast properly with sweets and dahi. Throw butter and curd at one another (in mock dahi-handi style) to enact the joy at Gokul. Many homes break dahi-handis hung high; community kirtan continues all morning.
Benefits
Nandotsava brings the bhakti-rasa of vatsalya (parental love) — celebrating the Lord as a newborn child rather than as a cosmic ruler.
