Om Shri Renukacharya Devaya Namah
Salutations to Sri Renukacharya — the first Pancharcharya, founder of the Rambhapuri Pitha
How to recite
Visit the Rambhapuri Pitha (Balehonnur, Chikkamagaluru district) or any Pancharcharya matha for the special Renukacharya Jayanti pravachana. Read the Siddhanta-Shikhamani (the foundational Veerashaiva-Siddhanta text attributed to Renukacharya). Hold and worship the Ishtalinga. Reflect on the institutional Pancharcharya parampara — the five mathas (Rambhapuri, Ujjaini, Kedara, Srishaila, Kashi) that preserve the Veerashaiva tradition.
Benefits
Renukacharya (per tradition, ancient — preceding Basavanna) is the first of the five Pancharcharyas of the Veerashaiva tradition. He is said to have appeared from the Someshvara Linga to teach the Shatsthala to Agastya Maharshi (recorded as the Siddhanta-Shikhamani). He founded the Rambhapuri Pitha at Balehonnur (Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka) — one of the five Pancharcharya mathas that preserve the institutional Veerashaiva tradition alongside the Sharana movement of Basavanna.
✦ Special Note
Per the Kannada Drik Panchang. The five Pancharcharya mathas — Rambhapuri (Karnataka), Ujjaini (Andhra Pradesh / Bellary), Kedara (Uttarakhand), Srishaila (Andhra Pradesh), Kashi (Uttar Pradesh) — preserve the institutional Veerashaiva tradition. The Rambhapuri Pitha is the principal Renukacharya-shrine. Dates per the Kannada Drik Panchang (drikpanchang.com, Karnataka reckoning); jayanti/lingaikya days cross-checked with the Suttur Math, Murugha Math (Chitradurga), Rambhapuri Pitha and Kashi Pitha almanacs.
