Mantra

यत्पदाम्भोरुहध्यानविध्वस्ताशेषकल्मषः · वस्तुतामुपयातोऽहं यामुनेयं नमामि तम्

Yat-Padambhoruha-Dhyana-Vidhvasta-Sheshakalmashah · Vastutamupayato'ham Yamuneyam Namami Tam

By meditation on whose lotus feet all my impurities have been destroyed and I have attained the state of true being — to that Sri Yamuna (Yamunacharya / Alavandar) I bow.

How to recite

At Sri Rangam (where Sri Yamunacharya served Sri Ranganatha for many decades), full sahasrabhishekam is performed at the Sri Ranganatha sannidhi. Recite the Stotra Ratna (his foundational stotram on Sri Narayana — the immediate inspiration for Sri Ramanuja's Saranagati), the Chatusloki (4 verses on Sri Lakshmi — the seed of all later Lakshmi stotras), the Siddhi Traya, and the Atma Siddhi.

Benefits

Sri Yamunacharya (916-1041 CE), called Alavandar ('he who came to redeem me' — by Sri Ramanuja), is the second acharya of the Sri Vaishnava Guru-Parampara — grandson of Sri Nathamuni. His Stotra Ratna and Chatusloki are the seed-stotras of all Sri Vaishnava devotional literature. Most importantly, on his deathbed at Srirangam, his three unfulfilled wishes (named only as 'three fingers folded inward on his hand') were taken up by the young Sri Ramanuja, who vowed to fulfil them — establishing the Sri Bhashya, naming a son after Parashara, and writing a tika on Tiruvaymozhi. Worship on Sri Alavandar's tirunakshatram (Aadi + Uttarashada) grants his direct grace and the merit of Stotra Ratna parayanam for a year.
