Mantra
विष्णो विष्णो तू भजे रे प्राणी
Vishno Vishno tu bhaje re prani
O living being, chant Vishnu, chant Vishnu — Jambhoji's mool mantra, recited on Jajiwal Dham Mela (Karthik Shukla Ashtami).
How to recite
Jajiwal Dham Mela is held annually around Karthik Shukla Ashtami at Jajiwal Dham — one of the original 14 Bishnoi mandirs established by Guru Jambheshwar himself in his lifetime, located in Jodhpur district, Rajasthan. The dham is a major pilgrimage site for the southern Marwar Bishnoi community. Pilgrims from across Jodhpur, Pali, and Nagaur districts travel by foot, tractor, and bus to attend. At the dham: perform havan with dry deadfall at dawn, dhokh at the Jambhoji murti, recite the full Shabadvani in collective sangat, and join the langar serving thousands of pilgrims with bajra roti, ker-sangri sabzi, and chaas. The mela also features pravachan from senior Bishnoi sants, and renewal of the 29 niyams in mass-recitation. Many families take their children for the first time to formally introduce them to the panth's spiritual home.
Benefits
Jajiwal Dham is one of the 14 original Bishnoi mandirs (Mukti Dham, Jajiwal Dham, Jambheshwar Mandir Pipasar, Lalasar Sathari, Lodipur Dham, Rotu Dham, and others) — sacred geography for the Bishnoi panth, established by Jambhoji himself in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. While the Mukam Mela (Asoj amavasya) draws the largest crowds nationally, regional dham melas like Jajiwal carry the weight of local lineage, family histories, and continuous community since 1485 CE. Attending Jajiwal Dham Mela once in a lifetime is considered a core obligation for southern Marwar Bishnoi families.
