Mantra

ॐ विष्णु

Om Vishnu

Om Vishnu — the bija mantra of Guru Jambheshwar's path. Jambhoji is regarded as an avatar of Vishnu in the Bishnoi tradition.

How to recite

Observe phalahar (fruit and milk fast) from sunrise. Begin with cold-water snan and sandhya facing east. Read shabads from the Shabadvani — especially the shabads of Jambhoji's final teachings before his mahaprayan at Lalasar. Chant 'Om Vishnu' on a tulsi mala 108 times in the morning, again at noon, and at evening sandhya. Visit a Bishnoi mandir; if possible, plan a darshan to Lalasar Sathari (Phalodi).

Benefits

Guru Jambheshwar attained mahaprayan on Magh Krishna Navami 1593 Vikram Samvat (1536 CE) at Lalasar Sathari (Phalodi, Jodhpur district), at the age of 85. He had spent his final years teaching the 29 niyams across Marwar, establishing dharma-sthals, and personally protecting blackbuck and chinkara from poachers. His mahaprayan day is observed as 'Mukti Diwas' — the day Jambhoji merged into the eternal — and is the most solemn Bishnoi day of the year alongside his Jayanti. The fast cleanses karma and renews the disciple's bond with the 29 niyams.
