How to recite
Dol Utsav / Phakuwa is the Ekasharana observance of Phalguna Purnima (Holi). Unlike the boisterous North Indian Holi, in Assamese Satras it is celebrated with devotional kirtan, Borgeet singing, gulal sprinkled only on the Krishna idol and the Bhakats, and Naam-Prasanga through the night. The famous Doul Utsav at Barpeta Satra and Bordowa Than draws thousands of devotees.
Benefits
Dol Utsav commemorates Krishna's spring lila with Radha and the Gopis. In the Ekasharana tradition it is purely devotional — the colours are an offering of joy at Krishna's lotus feet, not a worldly revelry.
