How to recite
Raas Mahotsav is the largest Ekasharana festival, observed on Kartik Purnima. Devotees fast through the day, attend Naam-Prasanga (congregational chanting) at the Satra and Naam-Ghar, witness the Raas-Lila (re-enactment of Krishna's divine dance with the Gopis using bhaona masks and song by Bhakats), and break the fast with sattvic prasad. The Majuli Satras (Auniati, Dakshinpat, Garamur, Kamalabari, Bengenaati) host the most famous Raas observances.
Benefits
Raas Mahotsav commemorates Krishna's Maha-Raas with the Gopis as narrated in the Bhagavata's Tenth Canto — central to Srimanta Sankardeva's Eka Sarana Nama Dharma (single-refuge devotion to Krishna alone). Observance is believed to deepen prema-bhakti and place the devotee at Krishna's lotus feet.
